You notice that this guide has been published several month before the manga endedn, because some of Saiga's information is a bit outdated.
Fūrinji Saiga (風林寺砕牙)
Affiliation: Yami
Ki: ?
Title: Ichiei (一影) / One Shadow
Age: 38
Birthday: October 25
Height: 190 cm
Weight: 98 kg
Hobbies: Chemistry, bird watching, mountain climbing
Likes: Wild vegetables, ice cream cone
Dislikes: Nothing specifically
Dreams for the future: Further using martial arts for the sake of the world.
Battle Log: Completely unknown
Techniques: All of his techniques are a mystery
- Yami’s top leader is Ryōzanpaku’s last missing hero.
- He’s blond, because his mother, the Elder’s wife, was of Russian descent. Which makes him mixed race.
- He can apprehend his opponents with only a single finger.
- He possesses superhuman speed: He could defeat his enemies before the jacket he took off hit the ground.
- He wears the same type of arm guards as Kenichi and the Elder.
- He finishes off his enemies with merciless attacks. He was able to defeat 3 master class soldiers within moments.
- Akisame was once his best friend. His room was next to Akisame’s when he still lived at Ryōzanpaku, which deepened their friendship.
- Did he kill his wife!? His wife Shizuha was known as the “Symbol of Kuremisago”. They knew their love was forbidden, yet their love persisted with the result that… Miu’s memories make is seem as if he had been the one who killed Shizuha.
- He thinks Kenichi is a sincere person and came to like him during the time they spent together when he disguised himself as John. He likes Kenichi so much that he trusts him to protect Miu and eve saved him.
- He teaches his disciple Satomi Kajima that a fight isn’t decided by power or techniques, but by your heart.
- He seems to have a soft heart although he’s the leader of Yami. Although he’s in Yami Kenichi didn’t feel any dark aura from him and thought he was surrounded by a gentle atmosphere. His true self remains mysterious for now…
- He loves birds and animal and was often asked to research endangered species. For that reason he often went deep into the mountains.
- If Saiga and Shizuha had fought on an equal basis, both “Saiga who possesses strength and splendid techniques” and “Shizuha who dazzles with her speed” would not have come out of it unscathed.
- He’s a master of disguise and even able to change his body shape and aura. His acting skills are superb.
- He’s an excellent teacher. He puts emphasis on training his disciples spirit. When he was disguised as John he said that math was his strong point, but actually he can teach everything. His great teaching skills are less effect of Hayato’s genes, but more the result of his mother’s influence.
- he owns the newest gadgets and items, since he needs them on his missions.

I'd say part Russian, because Shizuko is a Japanese name. Or her parents were anime fans or had some other reason to give Saiga's mother a Japanese name.

What was Saiga's mother name?

Her name was Shizuko (雫子) if we go by what was written on the Fuurinji family grave.
Where did you get that?

I'm sure it was just a very deep, friendly friendship and absolutely nothing suspicious. Right, Mr. Kouetsuji? Mr. Kouetsuji?????I will leave this pic since I have no idea what to say...

I don't think we will get any more info on Ganosuke and Mihai Ştirbey until someone decides to make a second, reversed edition of the guidebook.
Battle 170, volume 19, page 185.Where did you get that?

Who is Mihai Stirtbey???
Its Schtilvay! Damn are you the guy that edited Michael Schtilvays wiki!???
I understand that you maybe upset at the fact that "Schtilvay" is a pseudo last name the author pulled off. But in all fairness the author never stated Michael to be Romania. I mean, we theorized that Michael maybe Romanian but reality is, the author named his Schtilvay and decided to not give him any backstory so its only right that we honour the authors work by calling Michael with the last name given by the author himself which is...Schtilvay!

Yes, that was me and I have to strongly disagree here. Matsuena gave him the name シュティルベイ in Katakana, never did he give a romanized spelling.
The transliteration is the work of the same translators who got several other characters' names wrong, including calling Sieg(fried) "Jeek". If you check Mihai' s talk page you can see that someone else pointed out the translators mistake long before I did.
And the translator really did a shoddy job with his name. There is absolutely no way to get Michael from ミハイ and the name Schtilvay does not exist at all. Furthermore it would be strange if the author suddenly used a made-up name for one single character, while giving proper names to everone else.
Keeping it "Michael Schtilvay" would not honour the author at all, because it is not a made up fanatsy name, but one he researched for the purpuse of naming his character, and butchering it like that would be an insult, imo.
Another strong hint at the authors intentions is the name of Mihai's disciple. I'll just copy what is written on the talk page, because the writer put it better than I can.
tl;dr Schtilvay is a translator fuckup and has nothing to do with Mr. Matsuena.
This character's name is wrong. The original Japanese is "ミハイ・シュティルベイ Mihai Shutirubei". Mihai is a Romanian given name, that does translate into Michael but the form given is "Mihai". As for his last name, after some careful searching turns up the name Ştirbey, as in Prince Barbu Ştirbey . Also, his disciple's name is most likely meant to be Sigmaringen not the form that appears in the scanlated chapter 554, and is named after the last Romanian royal house. 76.116.254.231 23:49, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

Alright alright fair enough! I was upset because I was used to saying MICHAEL SCHTILVAY out loud whenever waking up groggy as well as the occasional Schinder sausage with breakfast.
I guess from now on, Stribey/shutirubei, although in all fairness though, everyone is used to Schtilvay and now that the manga is over, its hard for English speaking hsdk fans to now refer him to Stirbey.

Yeah, the translators could have been a bit more careful with their names. I just went through some chapters at Mangastream and found the following mistakes:
- Diego Carro
- Sensui
- Mihail (so close yet so far)
- Jeek
- they didn't translate 鎌 as scythe (or halberd), but used the transliteration "kama" instead. (WHY?)
- translated "Seidou Gouitsu" as "still movement first roar"
- Edeltraft Vonschira
I think there might be even more.
If it helps, you only have to change two sounds when saying his name: /lv/ -> /rb/, everything else still sounds more or less the same.

I've been searching via google a bit and stumbled upon another interesting thing.
There was a Romanian poet named Mihai Eminescu. One of the poems he wrote is called La moartea principelui Știrbey ("On the Death of Prince Știrbey").
And I finally know how to properly pronounce Mihai in Romanian: /miˈhaj/ (I'm still searching for Știrbey. My guess so far is /ʃtirbei/)
Thanks, wikipedia.
And now I'm wondering, Mihai might have gotten part of his name from a Romanian poet and Edeltraft was names after a German poet. What if the other members of the Danzaiba got their names from poets/authors/playwrights as well?

That's interesting whats also interesting is that, Vlad the impaler aka Vlad the 3rd was a Romanian prince and he was known for his RUTHLESS ways of dealing with people. He was a wicked figure who killed men, women as well as babies. They say Dracula was based on him.
I wonder if Michael Schtilvay is basically the hsdk version of him.
I mean we have Ganosuke who is clearly based on Myomoto Musashi who is a legendary master in real life. We have Seitaro Raigo who looks like Steven Seagal.
Then again, Real Vlad had a beard and black hair in all of his portrayal. It would be cool if there was a female master based on Ms.Bathory ( one of the worse serial killers in human history)
Edit: looks like its gonna take me sometime to undo the "Schtilvay" But something interesting worth mentioning and that is. In my quest to find out which culture used scythe as a weapon. I found out that the best Scythe users in real life were from Germany and Romania. Also my friend told me that "Schi" means "still" like still watered.
This was why I thought he was German which would also makes sense as well since he has what seems to be blonde hair and is super tall as well as a brutal no mercy personality which was the case of Germans at one point in history.
Anyway, I wish the author would have expanded on his character as well as background a bit more and by a bit I mean a lot!

It might take some time to get used to his prper name, but I think it's better that way than calling him by a wrong name.
I've read somewhere Mrs. Bathory wasn't as bad as some stories make her seem, but much of what is said about her is based on slander.
Is your friend Romanian? If he said "schi" was a German word that meant still, then he lied to you. The only German word "Schi" is an alternate (and imo horrible) spelling for "Ski", the things you use in winter to go skiing.(btw what does "still watered" mean?)
Blond/e hair is rather common in many parts of Europe. The more north you go the more blonde people you get, so it doesn't really do much as an indicator for nationality. Usuless information: Statistically speaking, the Dutch are the tallest people in Europe.
But some more information would be great. We still have about two months to go until volume 61, our last hope for some official information.

Honestly, I wish the translators would have gotten his last name right in the first place. Truth is, if you google Michael Ştirbey you will get ONLY1 picture of Michael or any hsdk related pictures that are tied to him in google search which is the link for kenichiwiki.
Meanwhile, if you google Michael Schtilvay, google image is full of chapters with Michael and Michael related pictures. So sadly, its too late for Ştirbey name to catch on. Though personaly like Schtilvay but I also like the real translations as well.
Btw you said you are from Europe as well and I am curios to know if Michaels outfit is popular within the culture or perhaps sub-culture of Europe?
As far as volume 61 goes, the hell with Michael or Senzui for that matter but we NEED to know why Kushinada became so bitter and angery+ more info on the Legendary master who is on par with Elder himself!
Afterall, we have a master who is based on Myomoto Musashi who is still talked about to this very day and Kushinada being the unoffical main antagonist of the series BEGS a backstory as to why she did what she did which was starting the eternal sunset despite the fact that she fought alongside Hayato to stop the previous one!
