This time our students from Nakano are after a guy who created a super advanced AI called Sechi.

I laughed when he and Nohara fought about linux distributions and amd vs. intel processors.

But Eight & Co. finally manage to make him call Sechi. I think she looks like Hatsune Miku.

 

This would be a great chance to have Rein and/or Machina show up in 008, wouldn't it?

 

There's a new(?) series on Sunday Webry where veteran artist give advice to newcomers. There's one episode with Matsuena.

I've never seen these before, but it appears to be a bit older, because they are referencing Tokiwa Kitareri here instead of 008.

Wolf Hunting is a story about Ayame set shortly before she goes to Nakano High.
 
The story is rather simple: Ayame has to save a doctor from Dogra Magra.  She succeeds, but her clothes are shredded during the fight.
 
What's interesting about this story is that the art is a bit rough and sketch-like, especially all backgrounds, much like the in-progress drawings Matsuena sometimes posts on twitter. I wonder if this was done intentionally, or happened due to the current situation with COVID-19 where his assistants might not be around as much (at all?) to help him.
 
Volume 10 release date: August 18.

I just think it's just something he did on his own or with little help. He did a similar thing with that for page comic about some guy waking up on an island as a girl with a spear approached him.

 

I think this might be higher among sales since this is more action oriented.

It ranked #52 on day 1. I wonder if volume 9 is going to make it into Oricon's weekly top 50.

 

The newest chapter's cover page looks as if it was taken straight from Tokiwa Kitareri. Eight and Tokiwa (in one of his 4197598164 past incarnations) wear very similar battle suits.

Still no Rein, but Eight might end up with a robot arm like Tokiwa if his injury is serious enough. That must have hurt.

 

Volume 9 didn't do so well in its first week although it went on sale on a Monday and 7 days to count towards its ranking.

It only made rank 73 on shoseki. This worries me.

008 has ranked lower during week 1 before, but I don't like its overall development concerning rankings. Unfortunately I can't deliver any total sales numbers, because all my sources have dried up.

Latest chapter: Eight seems to be kind of okay considering his injury, but now Chise in running amok. Who is going to stop her? Eight? Nohara? Junichi? Rein and/or Machina?
Next chapter will be out in two weeks, because this week's issue is a double issue.

This preview was posted on twitter and in the comments it was hinted at that everyone is seated according to their agent number. We know that Iceman is 004 and Rabbit 010. I think it's safe to assume that Araragi is 001. Now we can guess the rest.

 
My guess: Right side are even numbers and left side are uneven numbers. This would give us

I feel like 007 would be unknown or a blatant James Bond expy. Or a constantly changing face alluding to the many actors who played him.

 

Or the total opposite of him.

Yes, it would be nice if I'm wrong and Samael is not 007. Actually I hope he's 005, because he looks so much like Siegfried who was the 5th fist of Ragnarök.

 

No chapter this week, but we got what looks like the very first previews of volume 10 on twitter.

Yeah, me too. Iceman being 004 further alludes to Loki in my opinion, because they're both blue haired spy-type characters.

• This one is going to be the pink cover backside illustration of volume 10
• Future chapter previews (Did Iceman's eyebrows fuse with his glasses?)
• Volume 9 dropped out of the top 500 after only two weeks
• The official twitter account jokes that Samael might be Siegfried's father. I'm 99,999% sure it's only a joke, but it would be funny if true.

 

Finally the wait is over and we got a new chapter:
Chise is about to nuke everything. Eight begs Junichi to give them the password, but the poor boy is too overwhelmed and faints. To everyone's surprise Eight does know the password all and thus mangages to stop Chise once Iceman give him the order to do so. He actually saw the phone screen's reflection in Junichi's glasses when he used it earlier. Eight didn't want to betray their new friends trust and hoped that Junichi would give them the password. Unfortunately he couldn't do that, since he fainted and Eight had to take action.

 

Later we see Junichi at Araragi's office. Iceman is there as well. They give him two choices: Either he gives them full access and every bit of data to his AI Chise, or they'll have to completely wipe his memory.

Then Araragi offers him a third choice: Junichi could become an agent.Junichi doesn't particularly mind to leave his old life, because he never belonged anyway. However, before he accepts he wants to know one thing: If he joins them, can he be with Eight?

Finished drawing for the cover of volume 10. I think it's going to be the framed illustration on the cover backside.

Matsuena thought he'd post a large version on twitter, because it's going to be resized to a small size for the volume.

Did anyone see the previews to the vol 10 omake? I think we'll see a certain weapons master from HSDK popping in.

I would love to see Shigure again. Even just her mouse would be great.

 

Samael seems to be a little bit unhinged, but that's to be expected from a guy whose specialty is assassinating people and who gets called Angel of Death. Eight unsurprisingly isn't too fond of him, but Ayame thinks he's a good person.

 

I'm glad to see that my first guess regarding everyone's agent numbers was wrong and that Samael is indeed 005.

 

The new color page is coming along nicely. Too bad that Matsuena's YT and Insta accounts have been left to die. I'd be overjoyed if he uploaded a video of himself coloring his art.
