I used to use Safari and Chrome.

Safari just became too slow and Chrome got all Fu**ed up with one of the updates.

So I was left with firefox. I know the stable release isn't all that great, but Aurora is actually quite good.

On PC: Chrome
I thought I was going to have to stop using Chrome because it was starting to screw up quite a bit. Got off the dev channel and all my problems disappeared.

On mobile: Opera

I remember all the Vista hate. It wasn't that bad, but I hated it just because everyone else did.

As you should have. Lol

It's not terribad, its just some important stuff doesn't work at all, like the volume controls. :P

Yeah. Vista and 7 are based off of the same code, so some things work REALLY well, and most other things kill you to "try" and do.

Also, Vista has a bug in it's programming that they haven't fixed yet. It has something to do with the file indexing (tells the computer what file is where. Makes going through folders faster) and the longer you use Vista, the more screwed up the indexing gets. Which then turns it into a very slow computer.

Anything is good as long as it suits your own personal need, but I'd pretty much jump to a conclusion that this pre-built computers are quite crappy, Well except for Alienware but I don't see how anyone would really willing to but those over priced computers. Building one is much more efficient, makes it more personal.

I agree that certain OS's are better for certain things. Windows is good for gaming. That being said, Windows would probably work really well on a gaming computer. OSx is good for professional editing of anything and everything (and NOTHING ELSE).

Building your own is also a cheaper option. I can build a medium quality gaming computer for around the same amount of money as one of the crappiest store bought ones

On another note, Ubuntu 12.04 has been released for anybody who enjoys talking about Linux, even if they don't use it.

Linux rattles me out though I'd pretty much say that it is better to use Linux on older computers than the up-to-date windows.

Lots of web designers seem to love Macs.

Way too over priced. Only good for keeping your iOS fast.

Soo... to keep this topic alive:

Ubuntu 12.04 is working nicely. Faster than ever and stuff like that.

As for windows: is anybody using Bing Desktop yet?
I tried it on my windows machine but it didn't seem to work.
Maybe I have to have IE as my default browser (firefox when I tried it).

And as for mac news, I wouldn't know: I refuse to buy from apple.
I'm sure their products are great and all, but I could build something better for about half as much :/

As for your comment Rimi: Web designers like Mac because it has a Unix based file system.
Linux uses something closer to the unix file system, albeit a few tweaks and improvements. Also, most web servers out there (a good 90% of them) use linux.
Therefore, it is good to know your way around a linux file system, or something similar. So many web designers use Macs because FTP is easy that way (easy directory comparison)... and they are too afraid to use linux >_>

I've started designing websites for people. I can attest to the boost already knowing linux has given me.

Come to think of it, the only microsoft product I use is Word too...

I wanna put ICS on my old old laptop. Maybe I'll do that if I get really bored..
