Man, he must've really wanted to be a part of Ryozanpaku if he still hates him for that.

I guess. He was supposed to be the first disciple of Ryozanpaku, but Elder saw that he was truly evil and turned him away.

That probably hurt Ogata a lot and made him even more evil.

One thing I have always wondered about Ogata. That dot on his forehead - is that a bindi or a mole?

I have always wondered as well and was surprised to see it since in the anime his mole was omitted for some reason.

My guess is that, Ogata may have been inspired by the old yogi culture since the old yogis were rugged individuals who denounced material life and chose an uncertain path and tried to find happiness through physical and mental mastery so they could reach the pinnacle of human potential.

This seems very similar to Ogatas journey towards martial arts and infact I wonder if Ogata did any other martial arts beside what we know which is kungfu, jujitsu and ancient martial arts.

I know that Shaolin is an ancient style and yoga was responsible for the creation of shaolin kungfu and if I am not mistaken, Japanese jujitsu is also an ancient style as well.

P.S: One of my distant relatives is a yogi who lives in India and is a devoted yogi and he is pretty disgusted by the whole yoga fad in the western world since yogis were meant to have a hard life and yoga practice was meant to be painful, tough and rugged and not be in to charging tons of money for teaching yoga.

He does seem to be at least somewhat religiously inclined. After all he spends many days alone in the mountains carving buddhist statues, because he seems to seek atonement.

Too bad they left out this detail for his TV series character design. Matsuena never drew a color illustration with him either, as far as I can recall.

But he does have this dot in the OVA series and there it looks more like a mole, but I'm not entirely sure about it.

("Old Asian Wisdom ™" is a great way to get lots of money from people. Only very few will have enough knowledge to discern a real yogi from some charlatan, and you can make up whatever you want and people will believe it.)

I think it more a matter of what he put on his head. Does not look like a mole to me...

She already banged another guy probably(Who is Chikages mother, probably Kushinada judging by their pretty similar appearance and hair).

Yes, we both said before that this dot was left out in his tv series design. I don't understand why you had to state that again. (?_?)

I think Kushinada is more into old, wrinkly, bearded guys who are over 2 meters tall.

She already banged another guy probably(Who is Chikages mother, probably Kushinada judging by their pretty similar appearance and hair).

Wasn't it stated that Chikage was adopted by Mikumo. I remember something like that.

I made that post late at night when I returned from work so I was unable to read your post coherently, sorry about that. But yeah I wonder if the dot has a significant meaning to Ogatas design or background.

Oh and I started training in traditional Muay Thai and I realized that muay thai is also an ancient art and I wonder if Ogata has trained in it as well...

It seems like Ogatas ancient martial arts is based on using classical and rugged training methods to strengthen the body to withstand any solid objects while the modern training is more geared towards scoring points, strategy as well as tactics in order to win a sanctioned bout.

Oh and Ewwwwwwww at the thought of Kushinada being in to old wrinkly dudes...

Some people have strange fetishes.

But I'm sure Ogata can't complain about a lack of female attention when he happens to leave his hut in the woods once in a while.

Focused people sometimes ignore 'other' activities in media like this. I don't doubt that Ogata is not really concerned with the female form as much as the human body and talent.

Edit: Although I can't say anything if someone throws themselfs to him...

I'm still trying to decide whether he's a flirt or not. I think he doesn't go out of his way to hit on strange woman, but I think he might enjoy flirting.

I would really like to see a fight between Ogata and Akisame. Sure, there was the final battle, but that was kind of a battle royale and in the end everyone just quit and went home.

I think these two are some of the strongest super masters we have in this series that are not (yet) legendary level. I would love to see them go all out against each other without any interference from someone else.

Ogata's fight against Tanaka was great, but Tanaka just wasn't stong enough to keep up with Ogata and it was clear that he would lose. Akisame on the other hand should be a equal opponent. Just imagine the crazy techniques we could see them use in this fight.

Yeah it would be interesting if Akisame and Ogata fought. Ogata could bring out some crazy techniques and Akisame could analyze them and their effects instantly. Also Akisame could probably match him in the crazy techniques department. Another reason it would be interesting is because their strategies would likely be different. IMO Akisame would probably try to outlast Ogata, and wait for Ogata to tire out (since Akisame has muscles with great endurance, the pink muscles). Ogata on the other hand would try to finish Akisame quickly with Sei Dou Goui and his satsujinken techniques.

It would also be interesting to who won. If Akisame won I would like to see what he would to his former disciple. If Ogata won it would be a first for a Yami member.  Although if they fought I think Akisame would win due to plot reasons or maybe it would be a tie. Maybe Ogata could win and leave him alive since Akisame embodies the Katsujinken philosophy.

I don't have anything to contribute, but I found this image while uploading chapters covers to the wiki. Why did they leave this scene out when they animated the Kenichi meets Ogata episodes? (volume 14, chapter 121)

I do not think that would happen. At all. If you see Ogata's style, he does experiment with dangerous techniques at times but he too has great endurance like every master along with seemingly infinite energy reserves in their muscles. The only time he used Sei-Dou type move was when he was going to fight 3 Ryozanpaku masters. This will definitely be more of an interesting match that we have seen, as both try experimenting in martial arts in very scientific ways and similar ways. Ogata's style is mixed martial arts(this makes up his personal style as well) so he also is a very varied martial artist, meaning he has knowledge of a large amount of martial arts(making him a grand master of some schools certainly). Who's to win, I cannot say since Ogata has gained so much power. By my analysis of the anime along with the manga(who are diffrent people and I'll explain why) is that it seems reasonable to see that Ogata will lose but not without inflicting serous damage. In the anime and earliest chapters, Ogata is portrayed as a very inexperienced master compared to Ryo. Later onwards he is on par with three supreme masters of osnf. Its clear his method is a fast one that gets results because he values martial arts. This is just a large pile of my rambles so to sum it up; ITs not as clear as that, Ogata seems to be capable of serous damage and in the future he will be diffrent, and as we see him now he would lose but cause serous damage.

IMO Ogata would win, that may be my bias speaking, but that's what I think. Ogata is probably more knowledgeable on multiple martial arts than Akisame, since he has first hand experience in using them in his martial arts. He has plenty of techniques, he could use the techniques he taught his disciple, so he's probably more versatile. He also has Sei Dou Goui to improve his his speed and power, past the grandmaster level.

Wha........ In terms of experience Akisame has a large knowledge of martial arts, really every master does since their are only so many ways you can arm lock right. Sie Dou is only for emergency, as it would damage his body greatly. The only time he used it was to stop Ryo's advance, which consisted of Apachia, Akisame, Ma, and Sakaki. All of this was to stop the osnf that had turned and Ryo for their Eternal sunset to work. And guess what, he not some Legendary master. Here, referance:http://i15.mangapand...chi-5166289.jpg They are still fighting.

http://www.mangapand...-kenichi/582/15 Even though, as masters do, he shrugs it off, blood from the eyes is not a healthy thing.

On the last one, for some reason, it adds the even from the sentence I wrote after words. Just delete it and you good to go
