Before I get started with anything else, let me just say that I'm not trying to put down Ragnarok as a group. I actually thought that they were fine antagonists to start up the series. Now, what I really want to know is what was the real purpose of the group?

We know that they here originally meant to oppose Yomi(yeah right), but what for? Was it to show off Ryuto for Ogata to brag to other masters about? For example, of Ragnarok continued to grow stronger, it would be a serious credit to Ogata's ability to train a disciple who has such leadership quality.

Rimi was from Titan and managed to become it's leader(not that they liked it) and Lugh was from another team, too. Were they all meant to oppose Yomi? Or were they just training programs to perhaps get young martial artists sighted by masters?

IMO they were just training programs and the reason Ragnarok was against Yomi was because, Ogata wanted to train them. Or I could be wrong. One thing that sticks out to me, is Ryuto insinuating that he became Yomi, in part, to keep tabs on them. Was he doing that simply because they were a dangerous organization?

It was most likely just an Ogata-style training method. Build group of youths, make them compete against each other dog-eat-dog style => ??? => Satsujinken masters!

The whole opposing Yomi is just Ryuto's intention. Why? I'm not entirely sure yet but I think it has something to do with Ryuto is, in his heart, another Kenichi.

Ogata and Lugh have mentioned that death/killing an opponent is like a food for the martial artist and that sacrifices are essential for evolution of the martial arts.

The point of Ragnarok opposing yami is simple...They are both a group that train human beings to become super human through radical training and they were at the time the only group who were on par with one another when it came to disciple class until Kenichi came in to picture. Had Kenichi not entered the world of martial arts, the disciples would try to go at each other to see who would come out victorious and in doing so the winners would get a nice power up and come closer to becoming a master in the realm of satsujinken.

I assume the fight with Ragnarok vs Yomi would be similar to Hongo vs Hajime but with more death and casualty. I am not sure who comes on top but Ogata would benefit a great deal from either side winning or losing. Who knows without the existence of Kenichi, he may ended up with having Takeda as his disciple and since he doesn't have Akisames medical knowledge, he may have turned Takeda in to a modern day One Armed Boxer seeing how he has Lugh in his stable and Berserker learned exercises only and so perhaps Taleda would pick up some technique to even out his handicap/
