Whoa...
Alright so there were two really interesting concepts in this chapter. The first one is in the title. Kensei's entire obsession with martial arts is due to the fact that he believes martial arts acts as a medium towards bringing true equality amongst people. That's actually quite deep and in a way you could say that that ideology is quite admirable. It combats discrimination of all forms. But Matsuena did a great job of drawing up the downsides of such a belief by showing what happens if everyone is seen as equal through the eyes of a martial artist which is the "tragedy". Kensei warned Mayu to stop fighting her multiple times, but because of his ideology he saw Mayu as an equal and saw no reason to hold back. Seriously great job there and a great chapter.
Then there's the other thing...Mayu was pregnant when she was killed. This takes the above mentioned tragedy to a whole new level. The Ryozanpaku masters were completely shocked. Now did Kensei know she was pregnant? I'm willing to bet that he did, but a woman being pregnant didn't stop Kensei from seeing her as an equal in the realm of martial artists. Matsuena does a great job of building up Kensei's ideology as being something to strive for (equality through martial arts) and then shows us just how evil of an ideology it is. But maaaaan. Kensei killed an unborn child??? Dude, Matsuena...you've really taken this manga to a whole new darker level. And this guy is supposed to be the "Saint" fist. Maybe this is why Kensei isolates himself in the mountains? Maybe he feels some guilt over killing an unborn child?
The manga just got really dark...and I'm glad Matsuena showed his appreciation for that by having only one fanservice shot.
Oh also...did anyone notice? Akisame is gone from the master's discussion. Do you think he went off to the amusement park??

I don't think Kensei knew Mayu was pregnant, and that was his miscalculation, which ruined his ideology and caused him to become a recluse in the mountain, carving buddha statues to atone for a murder caused.
It is logical because to Kensei the only death that counts as murder is against a defenseless target who isn't attacking you.
His ideology, in a way, is actually very admirable. Through training, everyone can be made equal. Kensei does spar too, so it's not like he is always satsujinken. I mean after the near hit into his eyes by Ryuto, someone like Hongo might have just killed Ryuto already. He is only satsujinken against people who are serious about beating him and his ideology, it seems.
And I didn't notice Akisame missing, I think he might have gone off to stop the fight.
One thing I must comment on. Mayu is attacking a monster who just defeat your dad in a match to the death, while carrying a child?! What theory of parenting does this family subscribe to? Should Tanaka just move on and find a mother with slightly more self-preservation instinct? Am I getting too silly here?

I got the impression that Ogata's encounter with Mayu changed who he was completely. Considering the apparent dilemma he was in with himself as well as Mayu, that is probably true.
Akisame probably has gone to stop the fight. I think he's probably the best fit out of anyone in Ryozanpaku to stop a fight peacefully. Or at least bring Tanaka back to the light side.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn I sort of respect ogata's ideology but those results were just...matsuena has earned himself massive writing points for this.
The manga has taken a darker turn and I just can't wait to see what happens.
I hope Akisame makes it in time.
I also now see why ogata wants to be killed to get atonement for his sin.

"This is a trial call... This is a trial call..." ![]()
Interesting chapter.
It seems Ogata's miscalculation was that he killed Tanaka's and Mayu's unborn child and that's why he went into the mountains to carve statues.
I wonder if Ogata knows some Tenshi Mushin Ryuu techniques since he said that he "carved Kai's techniques into his body".
I'm really glad that Matsuena decided to end this fight with the Kazoe Nukite technique. I love that move.
I think this is the end of the amusement park fights and I don't see Tanaka winning. I think he's going to die.
Also, Akisame is stlll at the Ryozanpaku dojo:
We still haven't seen Rimi's body. I'm convinced that someone dragged it away.

Yeah, I kind of overlooked the miscalculation line. Good point. It kind of changes everything I said. :x
Mayu didn't necessarily know she was pregnant at the time...well Hayato did say that Tsutomu and Mayu got married because she was pregnant didn't he? Still, I mean Ogata killed her father. She's not like Kenichi and able to transform her anger into Sei. If the parallel holds then she's more like Miu and Miu would've done the same.
I still don't know what Ogatas motive is, why is he pushing tanaka to kill him so badly? I also think that if Ogata really wanted to he could of stopped that fight with Mayu without killing her or the child, even thou he fought her as an equal i dont think he would of killed her knowing she was pregnant...then again he is kind of an ass.
I think to Ogata once someone is an "equal" then it's a fight to the death.

Yeah it's pretty interesting that Ogata picked up techniques simply by fighting him. That's certainly what seems to be implied. I also love how the fight seems to be ending. Kenichi won't make it in time to stop them. I wonder how it'll end...
Thanks for ruining the Akisame thing. :|
Also I heard the next chapter doesn't come out in two weeks? D:

It would probably be easy for Ogata to pick up techniques off of him easily. Their connection to Ryozanpaku implies that regardless of their martial art, they are still extremely similar, or have the same techniques. That's also shown in the final clash where both Ogata and Tanaka use the same thing against each other.
Yeah, the last page said the next chapter doesn't come out until May 29th, I think.

I believe that's an editor note for the official release date of the magazine.

Pretty shitty of her to run headlong into a fight while pregnant. I feel that was pretty selfish on her part
She was going to avenge her father fatheeeeeeeer.

I felt the same way too. My first reaction is actually very similar to all the time when I see Miu going on one of her irrational rampage, anger. Miu endangering herself without considering logic or consequences basically makes her a liability in Kenichi's life, and Kenichi has simply not been worn down enough yet in life to snap.
In the case of Mayu, her action was even more irresponsible because she let her rage drag her unborn child into a fight. Even if Mayu were Kensei's equal (which she was not), the fact that she is carrying a baby would significantly mess up her physiology and ability to fight. The logic was stacked so thickly against jumping in that it should not actually take any conscious consideration, just basic instinct, to figure out that "train first, then give him even more pain" was clearly the better choice..

The chapter's out on MangaStream if anyone cares.
No one cares. ![]()
FOR FATHER
I liked the Manga panda title better.
I wish it was: "FOR FATHEEEEEEER!!!".
Yeah, the mangapanda title makes more sense with what the chapter is about.
Anyway, the way Mayu thrusts her palm reminds me of Ryuto's Gungnir technique.

This chapter was so... dark, I almost wanted to cry when Hayato said that she was pregnant...
Anyway, it was a very interesting chapter, good job Matsuena
