I think what Takeda needs to do is get Lugh somewhere with a lot of noise like music, bells, whistles as much as possible to throw off his hearing since thats what he relies on to fight.

He already tried to throw off his hearing in their first fight. Lugh countered that with no problem.

And it looks like Mangastream is still translating HSDK. Now I have to start over with 505's splash page because I already started coloring Mangapanda's. :lmao:

Why do people hate Takeda? I like him, and always have. He's the only good guy outside of Miu, Renka, and Seigfreid that's actually keeping up with Kenichi, and he's got a cool, determined-but laid back kind of personality. I hope he beats the snot out of Lugh, and this chapter really had me going. Who knew a shonen character would actually use a tactical retreat?

And there was plenty of man-service this time, Rimi.

The tactical retreat is what i hated, it reeked of cowardice. And it happened right after all that big talk

I agree. I don't blame him though, there's nothing else he could have done. Generally speaking, I just hate when people retreat even if it's part of their tactics.

After this chapter, I"m starting to wonder where the main story is going? I'm starting to think these amusement park fights (albeit entertaining) are really just fillers....

Youve obviously never been in a life or death situation before. Sometimes retreating is the best option especially if your outmatched, outnumbered, or underequipped. Live to fight another day.

I've seen many life or death situations in this manga and have never seen anyone run like that, with the exception of Nijima. It just seemed out of character for him.

I don't see how they're filler. Sure, they started unexpectedly, but I can assure you they will help the story progress in some form or fashion.

Takeda knew he had no chance of surviving otherwise.

Yup. Last time Takeda tried to stay and fight, he nearly got his arm destroyed by Lugh.

Besides its not retreating its just attacking in a different direction.

Rimi are you just getting lazy? There's a Takeda hate thread with a huge explanation of why you hate him.

Yes, I suppose I am getting a little lazy. xD Been kind of stressed out with work and upcoming school...I really do dislike him though.

Fillers? Where'd you get that idea from? I thought it was a part of the story, but maybe I'm missing something...hmmm

I'm pretty sure its to tell us stuff about characters that we never knew...like takeda's brain...

Rimi

Ah I suppose that makes sense. I have said in te past how I feel that matsuena gives very little character development to anyone who is not kenichi or miu.

Saiga

And this is what leads people to think any other development is filler. :/

He dug himself a pretty steep hole too. 500 chapters in and NOW we get some character development on other characters that have been around from the start.

Well we have been getting it before, it's just extremely sporadic.

Assuming you count the arc with Freya's grandfather as development.

If you think these are fillers then you must of never read Bleach. That has more useless fillers than any manga i know. I think HSDK has done a lot better when it comes to sticking to a plot. Also I dont get why people say there hasnt been any character development til now did you forget the whole D&D tournament? Both Takeda and Freya had great development during that. Or the sparring match between Takeda and Kenichi that showed how far Takeda has progressed in is training. But in all fairness it is A manga thats supposed to be based around Kenichi so im not surprised that most attention has been spent evolving him.

Rimi

Well the D&D tournament is nice, but when you compare it to all the arcs that Kenichi does it really just equates to 1 arc that people got to shine in but in the end Kenichi was the star and after that people kind of got shunted until recently.

But you're right. Bleach is worse. xD

Yea but it is Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi. If it wasnt suppose to mainly focus on Kenichi then they coulda just called it Historys Strongest Disciples. I guess Im not all that upset because i really like Kenichi as the main focus. Its like watching the Karate Kid in anime form and i enjoy seeing an underdog succeed so Im good with him as the main star.

I personally would not mind if the story developed a slightly darker atmosphere. I want to see tragedy in this arc. If Matsuena really wants to stir some emotion in the characters I think we will soon see a casualty of war in this arc. There has been very little grey area between the two opposing martial art philosophies themselves (namely the Killing Fist and the Saving Fist) so logic would dictate that to truly personify the balance of these two philosophies then someone is going to have to die. The SA and Kenichi and Miu have managed well up until this point but I would arguee that they have not experienced the true meaning of what they oppose--darkness. There can be no grey area. To follow the killing fist, yomi (at least 1) will have to successfully defeat someone in the SA in this arc and that means death. How do we get to see some character development? The characters as we know them will surely change when someone they know; there close friend, is murdered. That is how it works. That will define this as a real "war" rather than this onesided "cold war" based on idealism that has been predominant up to this point. Who will die? I think that there are some clear candidates that could possibly be the martyrs that will continue to drive the plot from hereafter. I have been a fan of Takeda but what a perfect character to be trolled to death. Unfortunately, Rimi is also a potential casualty in this conflict and this has been foreshadowed even more than the battle between Lugh and Takeda. It had been mentioned before that if someone like Chikage were to fight Kenichi they would be the worst possible opponent for them to face. I, however, see another more potent foe. That's right. Miu. As a writer I would say this would be the perfect clincher. This character that we have seen throughout the series as that champion of justice falling into the darkness, whom with her own hands kills Rimi, becomes the most perfect adversary to our hero. The empitomy of perfection becomes the greatest possible challenge that Kenichi with ultimatley have to face.

Also I'm new here. So hello everyone.
