Does anyone else find it odd that someone of super human level would be phased by a fox bite? Maybe I'm being a bit too harsh but I don't think he would have even felt it that much to create such a distraction for the elder to take advantage of it and get away.
They had been fighting for days, at the edge of life and death, and Gannosuke was attacked from a blindspot providing a small opening. We've seen Akisame (during one of his Alexander fights) and recently Kushinada having brief moments of distraction.
Actually, I'm glad this fight got wrapped up on-page, because it also confirms that the Elder will not be interfering (until maybe later in the arc).
So Elder and Siegfried are the only ones who will fall asleep in battle, wow...
Time for a new master-disciple relationship perhaps?
Honestly, it would be really cool to have Mycroft as Seigfrieds master since they both use a Hybrid Kungfu type base martial arts and both have a similar look to one another.
Now as far as Ganosuke goes...Does anyone feel that Seitaro may have been Ganosukes former disciple similar to how Saiga and Ogata were at one point a disciple of Elder!? It feels that way because of the fact that Ganosuke also uses a wakizashi as well!
Now as far as the elder goes...Did he use any of his 108 techniques in this chapter?
Yea, I had always thought that Sieg (EDIT: other than the other obvious future-Elder, our Kenichi-kun), not Berserker, will be the Superman figure of the new generation. The personalities fit much better, and so is the attitude. Sieg learns from anything and everything and has a very open mind, but he doesn't copy, only internalizing the principles of other things he observe into his own art. The only reason he hasn't learned other martial arts yet is because he hasn't found the limit of Go no Sen yet.
Who Berserker reminds me of is actually Ogata. Ogata is also an Elder-like figure, in a sense that most of his martial arts is his own, except for one technique from the Elder.
@Jimjim perhaps not "phased" per se. I prefer to think of this as "startled". It should have been explained something like this: fighters of this level have physical perception so fine that they can detect things like the tiny muscle spasms on an opponent's tensing body, or the softest of breathing, or a change in the breeze. This could be used to throw them without touching. So one could imagine that the fox bite must have really startled Gannosuke in a moment when he was putting all of his focus into the Elder.
Loved that part when Elder is sleeping and Gannosuke freaking out.
Good chapter, when I saw that fox I thought "what does the fox say?"
I wonder what about Michael's scythe, I wanted to see it this week so hard... and know who is gonna save Kenichi.
Yeah, and how long will it the Elder to come back and help the rest? I don't think that he comes back too soon. It will take him quite long time, I think.

In regards to the fox, I was basicly re-reading the chapter and I noticed when the fox attacked Ganosuke, both Ganosuke and Hayato were 40 stories high in the air well above the island in one of the panels.
This may explain the fact that, in the HSDK universe, there are animals like Tochumaru who have some sort of super human abilities like the masters as well as a human type behaviour. Also, I have heard that Foxes are considered special animals in Japan if I recall correctly so its not suprising.
I hope Hayato returns to the Island and starts training the fox and gives the fox a first name like maybe Steve?
I too am primed to find out what's going on back on in the main plot. The author is such a troll, wrapping this fight up when we least expect it, and in a way totally suiting the atmosphere and drama. Gosh this would make a good anime if it could get a big ol' budget.
We're yet to see how hongo handles all this, he always seems like a man with his own agenda, I'm shocked a character like him would be in yami just to bring about the eternal sunset, he's not that petty and we all know it, not just us, but the other fists and ichiei.
"Brace yourselves...plot twists are coming."
Now about the chapter, glad to see that its over, but not glad that the elder didn't defeat g...ge...ga..goku? XD I forgot the niitoryu elder's name xD but it should have ended in defeat, because now we know that once "goku elder" gets an hour of sleep and some grub, he's gonna be back up to par just like the elder and its unlikely that he won't give chase...
All in all, I'm still gonna predict that timeskip :3 it would be perfect!! Though the elder kinda gave everyone fighting spirit with some elder telepathy....which might tip the scale somehow...but still!! I want this...you all want this timeskip too!! XD

Looks like it was the mother fox that attacked Ganosuke and not the baby! Damn I thought it was the kid fox which would give me an excuse to give my favorite fictional boxer an hsdk homage!
According to the wiki, the fox is a legendary master for it's extreme hops.
I thought you were messing around until I decided to go to the kenichiwiki and LOL at:
Even though Takeda is one of my fav's for the team, I kind of hope she's dying. It'd be a cool twist - especially since she didn't really get to show improvement after be swung around by Kushinada and "figuring out her balance". Besides, it was a cool way to die - being thrown through the air, blocking arrows, but getting a scythe in the gut.
I mean, she must have taken a hit. I was looking at her fight so far, and whenever her shirt flutters, you can see her bare back. She's not wearing a mithril shirt or whatever. Maybe she did an organ lift?
And Danki was knocked off the "Legendary" pedestal because of his defeat at the hands of Mikumo.
Yeah I edited that part actualy!
We can't call every old master a "legendary master" so I had to remove that part since for all we know, Shigure maybe stronger than the Danki and she is def not at a Ganosuke,Jenazad level!

I thought it was hilarious that the Elder was just sleeping while Ganosuke was freaking out.
Oh, issues 22-23! That means a double issue which means it's gonna be on break for a week.

Swiper, no swiping! Hahaha! Elder used a hit and run tactic! Syun had the nerve to bring them back to play when we least thought about the old men.
