Great chapter can't wait for the next one.

I am slightly angry at the author right now... He used to be such an amazing storyteller, and he still is, but he is getting sloppy.

I'm talking about the water run. It was supposed to be an "impossible" feat. We were shown the Elder doing it, and then Mikumo and Jenazad doing it but only shown vaguely in one panel, suggesting that they can only barely do it in short distances. In terms of pure physics, it would take a running velocity of over 320km/h for a human being to water run (scale up from the speed and foot surface of a water bug, I can do the calculation again if anyone is interested).

We were also shown Ma and Akisame, the second and third speedsters of Ryozanpaku NOT being able to pull this off.

So are we to assume that there is now a guy in Yami who can water run while wearing armours so dense that 20mm cannon rounds bounce off it, and... resists the kinetic energy of a rain of cannon rounds while STILL running faster than 320km/h to be on water?

The Elder himself would have zero chance against that armoured guy, let alone Shigure.

But Shigure would beat them all somehow... which makes the suspension of disbelief completely thrown out of the windows...

Just once I'd like a nice decent length chapter. I just don't think 16-18 pages once a week is enough to progress the story without being rushed or taking 20 years to complete.

About 19 pages is standard for most weekly manga publications.

I know but at the rate its going ill be 50yrs old before it finishes. Its going on what 11 years now?

man I really want jenny to appear to help shigure out.

out of all people she seems the most likely one to show up.

I can't wait for next week's chapter.

ok, now that i got over the fact that water run has been retconned down a notch, and the Ryo masters probably all can do it too, I would make a speculation that Shigure would succeed in disabling Michael while fighting 7 masters, but she would take severe injury as a result and is helpless. Michael would end up still be standing, and go for the two youngsters.

Cue 2 disciples versus wounded elite master battle. A wounded Michael would still probably be the equal of or better than the lowest class master Fortuna...

So this arc will show that Miu and Kenichi together is enough to take down a master... a fitting level of progress

Edit: I know many would disagree with me, but I am desperate to see the disciples do something, ANYTHING meaningful, even by using trickery and cunning (under the direction of lord Nijima!), against masterclass fighters. I want so desperately to see them matter in the grand scheme of this story, especially seeing that many of them had gone through training from hell. The idea that "at some point you will suddenly become superhuman and gain ability that is 10 to 100 times more than what you gained through all that training from hell so far" is really against the original spirit of this story....

I agree, I really want to see all of Kenichis hard work in action against a master and see his improvement from the last time he squared off against a master and now

That archer lady is so cool. :o

Agreed! It's so rare nowadays that techniques at the elite master level are shown clearly. Also she seems a lot more unique and colorful than "magical water-running armoured guy" and "scythe guy who looks like but is not as cool as Sai Kagerou" :D

I wonder if you can do that in a real life bow, twirl the arrow a few times as you pull to create a spin.

Yes you can but it's not recommended for someone not used to archery.

I think that many masters around "Elite" level have broken the sound barrier. Elder was clocked at Mach 30+ with his 1/1,000th movement.

I think the scaling of people's important fights and the scaling of people showing off randomly is very different.

Almost all the master-class fighters have shown Dragonball Z- level abilities at random times when either it was simply to show off, or it wasn't decisive in that arc.(especially elder) But, almost none of them use those same abilities in actual important fights. Even recent fights like Ogata VS Tanaka (even if Tanaka was a low-level master)didn't have either of them using the same kinds of ridiculousness we occasionally see, like that knight running on water AND deflecting a torrent of bullets. Even the true master VS master fights like Hongou VS Jenezad didn't go quite that far.

My guess is: Matsuena does the dragonball Z stuff for fun, while toning it down a bit when it comes to important parts of the story.

I believe master Ma will have a great time against the archer

All things considered I think it was a good chapter. It seems the enlargement of Kenichi's pair has stabilized at a consistently reasonable rate. It's good that he's found resolve and has accepted the fact that fear can be his strength.

I agree

Fear being his strength is also much more realistic for someone like him. I wouldn't be surprised if he beats the weakest master present.

So umm...not to make light of any deaths here but did anyone else think of hsdk after hearing about the navy yard shooting thing? I'm not really sure what a navy yard is...just kinda assumed it's a thing with ships and ports kind of like where shigure is now.

The whole shooting.

Was Yami.

It does remind me. It is moment like this that I wish so much that everybody knows how to aim dodge. True bullet timing is impossible for any human, but if everyone has enough situation awareness to identify the direction of threat and quickly seek cover, damage from these mass shootings will drastically reduce.

I know from experience indoors unless you can see the shooter its hard to decipher direction due to mad echoing. Outdoors can be a pain too unless u see where the bullet hits. But from like 300 yrds it can be hard to tell if somes aiming at u or past you at someone else. Plus take into account at certain distances wind can cause a change of trajection you might end up dodging into the path. Best course is to hit the ground fast.

No... but now that you mention it...
