I thought it would be nice to have all stories present in the gaiden volume in one thread, even the non-kenichi ones.
As always I'm very slow when it comes to scannin, so I'll post things chapter by chapter. All scans will eventually end up here.

Chapter 1 - HSDK Gaiden Sore Ike Shigure-san!!
First published in: Weekly Shonen Sunday Super, 2004 Winter
28 pages
Ryouzanpaku needs money and Shigure takes an job offer where she has to tutor a little foreign girl for one week. She doesn't only teach her martial arts, but also how to make friends.
This one has been translated, but I'm not sure where to find it. If someone has a lik it would be great if they could post it.

I know a link but I can't post it here since this forum has an on and off issue with quoting and posting pics/links. But the link you want to find is in mangafox. Google "mangafox shijou no gaiden" and it should pop up on the search.
I would love to see a Ogata Gaiden as well! He is after all a mixed martial arts master and in his journey, he may have had more masters other than Akisame and Kensei Ma. Also, I would like to see a side story of Mihail, I mean, who the hell taught him his scythe skills and was this master evil as well!???

So many stories left untold, because he had to get his manga cancelled. What is Ogata doing now? How about Edeltraft invites him to Europe. That might turn into a fun story. Hell, what is everyone doing in the time it took Kenichi to become a master? Why didn't Natsu get any screentime in the last chapter, but Chikage did. Where is my China arc? etc. etc.
Thank you for posting this info. That should be enough of a hint for someone who wants to read the translation.
Horosho from one of the non-Kenichi gaiden stories looks a tiiiiiiiiiiiiny bit how I'd imagine a younger Ogata.
I also noticed he looks completely different on the cover illustration than he does in the chapter. I notices that with some of the manga's cover pages. It says they were all drawn my Matsuena, but I can't help but wonder if it was one of his assistants after all.

I agree with you 100 percent!!! The thing is, there was a Bear master that Tsuuji encountered who was a Koppo master. I always wondered if he ever trained Ogata since Koppo is an ancient martial arts that is a real martial arts.
Funny thing about Ogata is that, in some panel believe it or not, he actually looks like...Jenazad!!!
The best panel that shows that is when Ogata grabs Agaard and slams him to the rocks! I don't know what Horosho looks like and am curious, if you can post it that would be great
That being said, even though Mihai is my favorite yami weapon master, I still feel that Oganosuke Yokious backstory is more important and mandatory!
No doubt, so many many many untold storys in this manga...

Am I the only one who sees a young Kanata and science guy with glasses in that image of all the characters?
:Edit:
Actually I think I see the whole crew from Syun's new manga series.

Two words, art style.
I think it is more than art style and @Delirium Trigger might be right when he suspects at least some relation between those characters.
Matsuena seems to use some older ideas in this new Tokiwa manga. For example the "pencil sharpner" excuse was used before by Miu in one of the Tatakae! volumes.
Horosho from the gaiden story and DEM III from Tokiwa are pretty similar in looks. One is a genetically modified super human and the other is a superior artificial intelligence. They also share some character traits.
Ninja guy: Both are martial artists, have to deal with super natural beings and use similar looking swords. Gaiden guy's name is Hayato Fuurinji, written with exactly the same characters as a certain other person's name. And that girl in his story is so similar to Mui that there's even a comment about it on the bonus illustration. (She says: "Who is this Miu?")
Both glasses guys are the nerdy type.

You can't have a manga set at a school without a culture festival chapter. Here's what happened at the culture festival held during Kenichi's first year of high school.
I think this one has been translated as well

You average Kenichi story during the early days. Everyone from Ryouzanpaku is introduced and we see Kenichi traning. He is unhappy, because he can't keep up with Miu and his self-conciousness doesn't get better when Miu saves him from some thug. He asks Sakaki for help who teches him how to properly throw a punch. Later at night he gets some motivationaly talk from Miu. Some days later this thug shown up again to take revenge on Miu, but this time Kenichi finds the courage to fight him. Kenichi manages to win against him (while Miu massacres the thug's goons). Miu notices some similarity between Kenichi and her grandfather and Kenichi finally feels accomplished. This feeling doesn't last long, because Miu hands his ass to him, once again, during the next training session.

Chapter 4 - Chōjin хорошо
First published in Weekly Shonen Sunday Super, 2003, July
38 pages
In 1991 the Soviet Regime feel and they did not need their "special" solddiers any so the were set free. The young one from that group doesn't want to go with the others and walks into the sea. He doesn't have a place where he belongs anymore so he might as well die. A decade later he has somehow ended up at the Japanese coast.
---
4th grader Kanna Kizuchi is introduced, who saves another girl from some bullies. While the children are fighting the almost get run over by a truck, but our MC from Russia saves them. Kanna is extremely impressed and calls him her "prince on a white horse". Later we see her bring lunch for her father, who the owner of a construction company. Just as she's about to tell her father about her wonderful prince with silver hair and blue eyes who must be an immortal hero from a distant star, she notices her father's newest employee. Turns out, they found him about 3 days ago laying in from of their construction site, so they gave him food and kind of kept him. His name is Horosho, which is Russian for "good". Kanna's father invites him to stay at his house, because he saved his daughter.
----
Meanwhile the military has spotted Horosho and it's explained that he's a genetically engeneered super soldier with superior strengt, itelligence and knowledge of all martial arts, languages and customs. These soldiers should have disaappeared with the Soviet Union, yet he is here in Japan.
---
Back at Kanna's room she rather comfused about their guest's strange behaviour and her admiration levels from him keep dropping. She asks him what planes he's from and is surprised to heard he's from Sovied Russia, because the Soviet Union stopped existing long ago. Horosho knows and he's sad about it, because now he doesn't have a home anymore, so he went into "apparent death mode" at the bottom of the sea, but he was washed up at Japan's coast.
In return he asks what Kanna's relation is to Mr. Boss, because they don't look anything alike. "Are you married?". Actually Kanna was her mother's child from a first marriage. Her mother has died, but Mr. Kizuchi raises her like her own daughter. "Even if we are not related by blood, your family is your family and your parents are your parents." Horosho doesn't quite understand, because he doesn't have enough input for his civillian but, but he'll try.
---
Horosho notices the military that's tracking him and goes off to face them. Commander says it's an honor to meet some like him, but if he doesn't surrender they'll have to kill him. Horosho decides to fight them and wins.
---
After the fight Horosho wants to leave, but Mr. Mizuki stops him. Horosho says he cant't stay, because he not a normal human and thus can't lead a normal life. Furthermore it could be dangerours for Mr. Boss and Kanna if he's with them. Mr. Kizuchi tells him not to worry (after all he could just kill anyone who'd want to harm them) and after all he and his daughter already have accepted him as part of ther family.
---
Horosho says and the chapter ends with a diary enty.
"Horosho's diary, ○ month x day, sunshine.
Thanks to Mr. Boss and Kanna-chan I have finally found a place where I belong. And... I am really glad that my orders to destroy Japan were nullified."
About his name: Until Kanna explained his name's orgin I though it was supposed to mean "halatio", because the kana read HARASHŌ. Katakana transcriptions of words from a language not written in latin letters with a pronounciaton I'm not used to are not fun to transcribe. But they made sense once it listened to the pronounciation. (I still don't know how to properly transcribe Boris' nickname)
Useless info: The proper pronounciation for хорошо is [xərɐˈʂo] (dictionary with sound file)

He is an eccelent character and as good as his name promises. And his moe level is over 9000.
Too bad Matsuena didn't continue this one, but at least Deaus seems to be a little bit like Horosho looks and character-wise.

Chapter 5 - Senkō no Kishi Kazamarimu
Originally published in Weekly Shonen Sunday Super, 1997 January
32 pages
Hayato Fūrinji is the captain of his high schools karate club. One day a beautiful girl with the name Kanae Hida transfers into his class and she seems to be interested in Hayato. He struggles a bit with this, because a martial artist should not waste his time with girls, yet he can't help but feel some kind of interest. Turns out she is not a regular girl, but a Kazamarimu - a shining person. They fight entities called Berserker who posses dead bodies and turn them into monsters. Kanae was interested into Hayato, because he is one of the few people (1 in 1 million) who have the same abilities as her and she came to scout him. When Hayato fails to activate the ether module sword she thinks that she got the wrong person, tells him that regular people should stay out of her business and leaves. Hayato thinks she should not be alone and might be in danger, so he runs after her. He was right and there is another Berseker around who attacks Kanae. Hayato fights that monster although it seems he's a regular human. In the end it is shown that he's a Kazamarimu after all, he activates the sword, kills that monster and saves the girl.

Horosho is an interesting character, I would love to see him reincarnated into Matsuena's next manga.
Posted December 23 2014 - 07:58 PM
In regards to Horosho, I would 100 percent be interested in his storyline/manga. He would be the what if version of Ogata if Ogata were to be a the main character and the hero of the story who ironically is decked out in a black outfit.

Does he still count as an alternate Ogata when if personality is so different from him? But I want some more of that. (Puts that on my list of things I want Matsuena to draw that will never ever happen.)
Posted December 24 2014 - 06:56 PM
That's the thing though, is his personality even that much different? I mean even Ogata was saving kids like how he saved Tanimoto,Lugh,Ryuto,Rimi and even tried to save Kenichi from Ryuto until he got stopped by Ryo masters.
So obviously he is not as bad as people making him out to be except the whole him being ok with Kushinadas plan of nuking Japan. But yeah, Ogata seems like a cool guy, kind of like if you venture in the spectrum of evil, he would be the tip of the iceberg while a guy like Mihail is the bottom of the ocean.
To answer your question, I believe he can be considered an alternate to Ogata since Horosho can also have some "evil" in him due to his programming and so the other supporting characters have to be his moral guides and help him undo his violent tendencies that he acquired in Russian military.
