Not only that, why do they all have brown hair? And why does Eito look remarkably like the mc from his prized disciple's webmanga?

Ha, you are right. I totally forgot about Ayato. Maybe they traded designs: Matsuda got to borrow Aria's design for Princess Iriyaa and Matsuena copy&pasted Ayato for Eito. If you add the main characters from Matsuena's Gaiden stories you have enough people for a copy of Osomatsu-san, the name fits as well.

I went to yahoo auctions to look at the price. 890 yen for something that cost them only a postcard and a stamp.Still better than the Kenichi bonus illustrations that are listed for thousands of yen.

This time there are 6(!) different store bonus illustrations: animate, gamers, toranoana, melonbooks, comic zin, and bunkyodo. I wonder if there will be a madman who'll get all six.

The obi/spince card of volume 4 says that over 220.000 copies of Kimi wa 008 have been printed to far.

(I made a mistake when I made a similar post about volume 3 when I thought the 170k were copies sold, but it's copies printed).

Volume 1 hat 80k-90k copies, that leaves about 43k-46k copies each for the first print of volumes 2-4. The print run went down quite a bit, didn't it? But it's now closer to the amount they actually sell. On the positive side there should still be first print editions of volume 1 left for quite a while. Toranoana even has store bonus prints left over.

Someone actually did it. Twitter user AyRWhpKHfipti36 got all 6 store bonus illustrations.

I wonder what they are going to do with 6 volumes. 1 for reading, 1 backup, 1 backup for the backup, 1 backup for the backup for...? Funny thought, but they are most likely going to sell them to one of Japan's many used book stores.

Edit: I read the tweet again. They write that they've got all bonus illustrations from volumes 1-3 as well. I'm envious.

Matsuea is already working on illustrations for volume 5. which is sheduled for May 17.

I think this one might be the cover illustration. That or the b/w illustration at the beginning of each volume. What was that one called again?

Volume 4 was ranked #36 (week 1). No exact numbers or rakings for week 2 so far.

To celebrate the release of volume 5 on the 18th Shokugkukan is giving us free chapters to read on Sunday Webry.

https://www.sunday-w...com/series/1210

They are uploading a new chapter every second day.

This promotion lasts until the end of May. Once it's June the free chapters will be gone.

Book-rank is working again and I can finally post sales data for volume 4. Unfortunately all data for previous volumes seems to be gone (for now?)

That low number seems quite concerning, to be honest.

I've seen another estimate that says volume 4 sold about 26.6k. Kimi wa 008 did decline a bit, didn't it? But it's still doing better than most other manga in Shonen Sunday.

And now for some important news: They announced an official TV commercial for 008 in this week's issue of Sunday.

I wonder if it's going to be fully animated like the one they did for Tokiwa or more like the ones they did recently for other Sunday series. (Example)

Volume 5 is going on sale in a few hours. To celebrate it's release they have already uploaded the TV commercial to Youtube.

Furthermore there will be free reading samples from Shun Matsuena's previous works on Sunday Webry (and possibly most other ebook stores).

  • Kenichi volumes 1-10
  • Tokiwa volumes 1-3
  • Tatakae! volume 1

Matsuena's editor posted pictures of the new volume.

Kimi wa 005 is out. You can ready the first two volumes for free on Sunday Webry. They also have a readig sample for volume 5: Click the white 立ち読み button next to its cover.

Important news: The digital version of volume 5 contains all bonus illustrations except for the pink cover backside 1st print bonus and the obi/spine card (but nobody cares about the spine card). Previous volumes only had the omake chapter and the front cover included.

Stores that sell the print version:

CDJapan, honto, amazon

Digital:

bookwalker, EBJ, rakuten, honto, kindle, Webry

And here's a collection of all free Matsuena manga on bookwalker, but you'll find the same free books at any other ebook store.

Chapter 61 spoilers

Spoiler

Next week well get color pages.

Matsuena reactivated the BBS on his website. The one where you link your fanart on pixiv works fine for me. The regular BBS however, won't even let me view any entries.

Delirium Trigger

Ah. That's great. Does it have the old BBS art too?

Nacchi

He started from scratch, unfortunately. The only two post right now are test entries made by himself.

First sales data for week 1 (May 13-19): 11,172 (rank 36 on Oricon's weekly ranking). Pretty good when you keep in mind that it was published on a Friday and had only 3 days of sales to count towards the ranking.

Let's see if sales stay that way or if everyone rushed to buy their copies during the first few days and sales drop drastically after that.
