NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
My feels... Damn the Kushinadas. Damn them.

I'm liking the Hopelessness. Obviously all the wounded people in this chapter wont actually die. Maybe a few. Usually this is the part in the shonnen manga where the hero comes to the rescue but obviously besides saving himself I don't think Kenichi can save anyone at this point. Only people capable of saving the masters is the elder (presumably loosing to the weapons grand master at this point) or James Shiba (but what would he actually do against everyone?)

Only possible outcome I can see here is an all out war between unarmed and armed division of Yami while everyone escapes from the island.

Everything seemed hopeless for the good guys until the chapter ends with "Due to the difference in their view of fighting, a crack opens between the weapon and bare-handed team? The state of war might change remarkably...Next Time!"

Michael Schtilvay is gonna be known as the guy who single handedly cause the defunct of yami due to his love of serial killing. That being said, it makes me wonder....Is Michael the second strongest master after Ganosuke??? It seems like he is never worried about murdering Miu or Kenichi even though he knows that Saiga and Elder are not going to approve their daughter getting killed by a master of all people.

welp guess i'll just stay tuned

any idea where we can find english translated anime? I think it started this week...

Or just hella prepped with some sort of anti-master equipment.

On another note:
• I highly doubt Kōkin would fight because he is dressed like he has a date.
• I so called Siegfried using "Nirvana no Canon: Vertical". Still kicking ass.
• Is Danki dead, too?
• Ukita may get a buff!
• Scythe user may be a little " small".

I can be a little more serious when I get online.

Scythe users in this manga is apparently a bit small... The level of compensation is staggering... I don't think Michael is that strong, but he is by far the best prepared. Mastercraft weapon and chainmail, and some ablative armour, and I can guarantee a lot more things we don't see yet.

Siegfried still kicks ass indeed. I so want to see Sieg vs. Chikage now. In the shinpaku team right now, only Sieg and potentially a Renka interrupt would be enough to defeat Chikage so that she could be snapped out of killer mode.

Number one romance in this manga confirmed to be the threesome between Kagerou and his hoe (of the garden variety) and Setsunamaru (his sword)

Anyone noticed that the Ryozanpaku masters are finally in formation again? Kagerou-dono's sacrifice to stop Mildred from doing her distraction attack indeed worked. This manga has become epic again that it's possible to write deep analysis on each chapter like this!

I don't think Danki is dead. He is still holding on to his staff, and rigor mortis doesn't set in that quickly. He is certainly beaten though, which is a bit surprising and disappointing to me. But I figure it makes sense. He, like Ma Kensei, would have been accosted by Mikumo plus being pressured by 1 to 2 other weapon users, so he is toast.

I predicted Sai would rise from the Earth; but i didn't expect him to be a full-fledged earthbender. XD

Alright. I was worried about Freya having to find that out. Oh the many possibilities. Sieg may pull off a Pied Piper and make the Yomi team dance until they submit. And how is Mikumo, anyways? She said that everyone was skilled youngsters while holding up Danki.
How old*
And can we confirm that Kenichi has been off-paneled or..?

Mikumo is in her 90+. She was in her mid-late 20's in WW2. So probably 29 by the time WW2 ended in 1945. Assuming that the story of hsdk occured during the early 2000, with the current year being 2005 when Facebook is just beginning to become popular but still obscured enough and geeky enough that the government hasn't taken it seriously as a source of intelligence gathering.

That means she would have been 29 + 60 = 99 years old at the current point of the manga. So is the Elder.

While we are at it. How old is Jenazad? We know that Tidat is a fictional country that is based on or is a part of Indonesia. We also know that Jenazad is significantly younger than the Elder, since Mikumo called him young when they met in private. We also know that Tidat gained its independence when Jenazad was in his mid / late twenties.

Tidat, therefore, must be based on the Territory of West Guinea, which remained a Dutch colony until its return to Indonesia in 1962. Let's assume that Jenazad is 29 here.

Then he would be 72 by the time of his death.

This analysis would be even more creepily consistent with the history of Indonesia itself, as a lot of internal conflicts happened after 1962 in indonesia, which led to a coup-de-tat in 1969, and a lot more bad things (but a lot more covert and smaller scale) beyond this...

I agree with your assessment Lion.  Jenazard had rough folded skin, which even for a man in his sixties, was a bit too old.

I'm surprised that Kenichi is still down on the floor.  I'm wondering if the one to interfere here is actually going to be our Kajima Satomi, since Michael is leaving himself open to strike past the disciple.  In that case, he'd turn on Kajima?

But honestly, only Shigure is going to intervene here.  It's fated.  He has one of her weapons she's collecting.  I just hope she has to kill him because he's so spiteful, his last attack will be at a disciple.  Is she strong enough to put him down when Kenichi is on the line?  Probably, but it will be tense.  Actually, I can see where Michael lunges out at Miu, and where Shigure fails to stop him, Hongo stops and kills him.  Why?  Because Miu reminds him so strongly of Sho Kano.

It's interesting, because the author is writing his characters into a hard corner, and I'm not sure what could possibly save them.  Sure, the Master could save them...but that would imply he's won his fight with Gannosuke.  Whew, that would be one hell of an off-screen battle.

We're still awaiting Shiba vs the One Shadow too.

The master's fight is seemingly wrapping up.  It doesn't seem to be holding much finality, so this isn't really a final arc at all.  I'm very interested.

for backup i'd say those guys in the suits wont add up to much, especially against chikage...maybe ryuto and rimi will show up, but they wont be that much of a force, so i cant say im sure how it's gonna play out, Matsuena-sensei can be like Oda-sensei at times...

Also dont you guys think a timeskip is evident? It would be awesome for there to be another 100-200 chapters of HSDK after yami invoked the eternal sunset and the masters of ryozanpaku are in hiding, training the desciples for the fateful day of counterattack...I'd say a timeskip would be the best course of action....for the sake of us fans who just dont want it to end!

Oh...im new here btw, yoroshiku!

This was a super intense chapter. Some blood was spilled. I am very eager to see what happens next. I hope Seig and Renka wreak some havoc. One thing I will be disappointed in is if Yami loses soley because of internal strife. It would prove their philosophy is flawed by its instability, but if Rozenpaku can't stop them without letting them basically kill each other, what does that say about their philosphy? Couldn't that prove that their philosophy cannot actually solve big serious problems? I just wanna know where this all is going.

p.s. hello, hello, onigiri_boy. Welcome to the club :)

I would be so pissed if Kajima stops Michaels scythe! It will prove that even unarmed disciples are not that different in leagues than weapon masters and without their weapons an unarmed disciple like Kajima could take out masters like michael,Mildred,Raki,Shigure if they didn't have their weapons with them.

Although Kensei Ma did say that "Shigure is young and without weapon is just a normal girl" so I assume that without weapons Shigure is like a regular disciple? I mean Sho Kano took out Thor,Takeda,Freeya way more impressivly than Shigure took out the guards when she was unarmed. Granted she was tied up but then again Sho was carrying Miu on his shoulder and I guess Disciples are more impressive fighters than yami guards.

All and all, I have been very very dissapointed with weapon users, they seem like couple of notches below unarmed fighters in general. Its sad because IRL it takes lots and lots of courage and conviction to wield a weapon due to the fact that there is more danger in weapon fighting and that danger will give you the urgency to want to strive for a higher level and it takes more balls to be a swordmen who fights other swordmen than say some kickboxer.

EDIT: Shigure did catch Mildreds arrow and balanced herself on her fingers on Raki and Michaels weapons which is very impressive and no disciple of the unarmed division should be able to do this but damn, it feels like overall the weapon masters are getting shit on seeing how Sai and Dankichi were defeated by Kushinada and the overall portrayel of them so far....

Oh...im new here btw, yoroshiku!

Welcome Onigiri!

Disagree about Ryuto and Rimi. They are basically Kenichi and Miu, give or take a little bit of stats. Rimi is weaker but a lot faster than Miu (Miu could match and counter her speed due to much more experience sparring with elite masters who are even faster, but Rimi got a lot of experience now simply by fighting Miu too), and Ryuto is weaker than Kenichi but very slightly faster and more skilled.

So their appearance would shift the balance of power of the disciple fight entirely. Berserker would not jump in for sure now, because he wants a clean fight with either Ken or Ryuto, not this sort of dirty gang up. Lugh probably won't too because it won't gain him anything. The rest of the unarmed group is a toss up, but if they didn't join before, they probably won't now unless someone takes the initiative.

Renka joining now will actually not gain the Alliance anything, because Rachel will fight her again, or Hermit, and it will be an even fight, cancelling out any advantage she brings entirely.

Edit: oh, and the guys in suit are on Yomi's side... not the good guy's. They fought those same guys in suit 2 chapters ago... Unless Okamoto decides to get smart and get his soldier to wear the suits of those they have beaten. That would be clever.

To me, this is Hermit's last chance to do something to aid the SA or become some sort of wild card (I really hope for the latter to see him use some new techniques). Maybe it's just me, but it feels like Hermit is being treated like he's just another Yomi member. I'm aware the focus shouldn't be on him, but the guy has been like a ghost for the past chapters.

It's times like these that makes me wonder what the other disciples are doing at this time. How come the Valkyries aren't there?

Finnaly!
Yesterday I finished reading. Sience the day I found this page, I was reading, reading and reading. From chapter 144. And this whole time I wanted to comment the new chapters with you, but I didn't know what the newest chapter was about. And now I finnaly know and have no idea what I can think about it. :(

Ok... I think something will stop Michael's scythe. Kenichi won't die so easily. And I wonder if someone appears to help the shinpaku alliance. I hope it may be Jihan. (Oh, many of you drools at the sight of Shigure, Miu, Rimi or whoever, but I'm a girl who likes boys and I drool at the sight of Jihan or the others... :P) But I don't really think that he comes back from Tidat.
Yeah... Kagerou sacrificed himself. That was brave, but I'll miss him very much. Also, I don't think that Danki is dead. He may be unconscious.
ah, and what about Kisara? I never really liied her, but I would miss her if she's dead... a lil. :P
God, I seriously wanted to comment the new chapters, but now it took me so many time to devise a short sentence. :l

Welcome Katherine! :D Wow, the renewed interest of new readers must be the sign that HSDK has finally cleared the shark jump and landed safely on the other side, becoming good again!

It didn't even seem to take that much, just a marginal (10-20%) decrease in frivolous and almost vulgar fanservice, and everyone takes this thing seriously again... I hope ;)

Ya, I miss Kagerou too. There's something quite innocent, idiotic and egotistic, but still innocent, about him.

Oh yes, Jihan, I believe that he is downright the most eligible bachelor in the Disciple group too.

Hermit will definitely become a wildcard, but not now, not yet. He can't really act yet because if he switches side, that will be the break the silent "honour code" of the unarmed group, and everyone will join the free for all, resulting in a huge shift toward Yomi's favour and dooming everyone quickly.

And the Valkyries aren't skilled enough to fight at this level, unfortunately. However, I do think that there will be a second wave of katsujinken. There must be or everyone is toast.

Kisara took what looked like a full on scythe tip to her guts... If it slid in through the solar plexus, she would be instantly dead now. I reread that page a few times because I really couldn't believe that Matsuena just pull off a scene like that. That to me was far more brutal than the Ogata headburster scene, because Tanaka was quite ready to die. For the first time there is a true, dramatic cliffhanger in this manga!

I agree with most of what you said here but we don't what the Valkyries have been doing since the last time we saw them and every time they do show up they are better than the last time I think Ryuto, Rimi, Jihan, and Shiratori might show up to help the SA and welcome Katherine.

I sure hope the Valkyries show up too, actually. They would add, if anything, quite a number of combatants, and using weapons, they can at least fight defensively and form up a "wall" for everyone to regroup.

Even Yomi is not more than "3 times the rank" of the Valkyries (like what Sasaki said with regards to what it takes for an unarmed fighter to win against an armed fighter of the same general class), so they can't simply mow down a wall of defensively placed sharp things.

Ranemoraken (did I write you username right? XD) that's a good theory about Hongo killing Michael. I mean, that's sure Hongo is not there just to stand and breathe. Matsuena sure has got any plans for him and I'm so freakin curious about it, so I can't wait. :P
